Smith International Baptist Academy, Ogbomoso, with the acronym SIBAO, (coined see-and bow) is a Christian Missionary Co-educational Secondary School Operating both Day and Boarding. The school was established to promote qualitative academic, Spiritual, social and moral excellence of learners of post-primary school age. A generation imbued with astounding innate abilities and virtues which should be guided to serve God and humanity. 

The School officially opened to pursue the above-stated goal, on Monday, 18th october 1999, with five pioneering teaching staff members, under the leadership of Rev’d T.G Adegboye, during the tenure of office of Rev’d. Prof. Yusuf Ameh Obaje, as the President of the mother institution, the Nigeria Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso.

On the 15th and the 16th of February, 2000, officers of the Ogbomoso Zonal office, of the Oyo state Ministry of Education, undertook accreditation inspection exercise in the school as a prerequisite for its approval by the Oyo state government. The WACE AND NECO Evaluation Teams also assessed the school at separate intervals in the same year and granted approval to the school to participate in external examinations.

Rev’d. (Evang.) and Rev’d. (Mrs) jide Doyin Abimbola were instrumental to the establishment and growth of the school, being the co-Ordinator of Ancillary Education Unit of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso.

Students from different states of the federation, come each year to take advantage of the unique learning experience imparted by competent and proficient teachers of the institution. It has also enable our students to develop strong leadership skills, self-discipline, tolerance and determination with an appreciation for their school, country and the world at large.

These traits prepare our students to participate and succeed in competitions at the state and federal levels. it has also enable our student to develop lifelong skills and connections as they prepare for further studies, embracing their guided choice vocation as citizens of our global village .

While you are studying at SIBAO, you will be supported by a dedicated school Chaplain and Guidance Counsellor who will guide and ensure you are able to take full advantage of all SIBAO has to offer: ensuring you have access to any services you may required from admission to academic planning, spiritual development, hostel accommodation and personal issues. The school takes our students’ personal character and pastoral care very seriously. These become pertinent so that parents can be rest assured that their children will be carefully supervised in the school, hostel and at play as part of a well structured and balanced school curriculum, where children can live to their full potentials. 

The first set o the Students of the Institution numbering sixty, graduated during the 2002/2005 academic session. The set and subsequent ones have been graduating with spectacular performances. in 2019, the graduated set scored 93.4% over all percentage pass in NECO.  

It is no gain saying, that between 2005 and now, the school can be proud of having graduated enviable ex-students who are professionals spread all over the federation and in diaspora doing brilliantly well in their various fields of Endeavour.
